CNN, citing sources familiar with the request, reported that the U.S. Central Command’s (CENTCOM) asked its forces to come up with “creative and unconventional” ideas in order to counter Iran.

According to the network’s report, the request by a senior officer in the U.S. military command leading the war between Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and Iran was raised in the form of an email: “We need ideas.”

In this message, sent on Wednesday, July 29, to a broad group of military analysts, it is written: “We’re looking for new, creative and unconventional ways to pressure and punish Iran.”

A second source also said that a senior U.S. military officer sent this message last week with the aim of gathering new ideas about how to deal with Iran.
