🔶 Baqai: We have no talks with the United States; talks are with Oman

Ismail Baqa’i, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, says that there is currently no negotiation taking place between Tehran and Washington, and that Iran is only negotiating with Oman.

He said on Monday, August 3 (12 Mordad), during his weekly meeting with reporters that the focus of negotiations between Tehran and Muscat is “reaching an understanding on a temporary route for the safe passage of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz,” and that issues related to Iran and the United States “should be seen in later stages what direction the situation will go.”

While Donald Trump, the president of the United States, had announced on Sunday evening that a new round of talks between Washington and Tehran would begin from Monday afternoon, Baqa’i denied the claim and said Abbas Araghchi is traveling on Monday on a “personal trip for the Arbaeen pilgrimage” to Iraq, and that “all the Iranian negotiators are in Iran.”

He also rejected a report by Al Jazeera about the dispatch of representatives from Qatar and Pakistan to begin negotiations with Iran.
