Axios, citing a U.S. official, reported that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, met on Wednesday with Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Defense.

Earlier, CNN had reported that Khalid bin Salman, during a brief trip to Washington, also met with JD Vance, the deputy U.S. president.

According to an informed source, the two sides discussed a range of issues, including joint operations and Saudi Arabia’s response to attacks on this country’s infrastructure.

The source added that Khalid bin Salman brought a message from Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi crown prince, which he intended to deliver personally to the U.S. deputy president.

Another source told CNN that Khalid bin Salman, in this meeting, outlined Riyadh’s views on the ongoing war.

According to CNN sources, Saudi Arabia’s reaction to the Houthis and Iraqi paramilitary groups was intended to convey the message that attacks on non-military infrastructure are a red line for Riyadh and will not go unanswered. However, Saudi Arabia continues to seek to reduce tensions.
