Aram Hosseini, a professor of political science, told Iran International that the main issue for the Islamic Republic is no longer the nuclear issue, but the Strait of Hormuz, and that Tehran, through its actions, is sending a message to the United States and regional countries that without lifting the sanctions there is no solution to this crisis.

Hushang Hasani-Yari, an expert on Middle East affairs, also believes that in the Trump administration, the option of a full-scale war against the Islamic Republic was likely being raised as the final solution; a war, he said, that could paralyze the Islamic Republic and, in the end, lead to a change in circumstances with the presence of the Iranian people on the scene.
