Revelation of a covert operation at Ankara airport shows that after landing, Donald Trump secretly changed his plane to ensure equal safety from an Iranian attack.
In this complex trick, a food-service truck was attached to the aircraft in a part of the airport out of sight of cameras, so that Trump could secretly exit “Air Force One.”
Using this truck to move on the tarmac, Trump boarded a smaller military aircraft so that the rest of the trip could be carried out separately and away from danger.
At the same time, the main presidential aircraft, accompanied by reporters and staff—who had been asked to draw the sunshades—continued on its way as a diversion flight.
The disclosure that Trump was hidden in the food-service truck has created a new challenge to Trump’s image of authority; a process that, apparently, the security service had kept hidden for a month.
U.S. officials say this unusual action was carried out in response to credible information about the risk of an Iranian missile attack on the president’s aircraft.
After the trip, Trump, referring to these dangers, told reporters: “I know I’m number one on their list, but if I’m leaving, you’re leaving too.”
