Amnesty International, in a statement, said that two protesters were executed publicly in recent days, after the arbitrary execution of at least three other protesters last week, a sign of the Iranian authorities’ increasingly intensified use of the death penalty to suppress opponents. The organization warned that at least 60 other people, including three who were children at the time of arrest, remain at risk of execution, and that many others are also being prosecuted on charges punishable by death in connection with the protests.
