👈 A government official from one of the Gulf littoral states told The New York Times that Qatari mediators are working on a deal under which Iran and the United States would, over a five-day period, offer a set of concessions; including Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the United States lifting its naval blockade of Iran’s ports.

The main obstacles to the deal are the timing of the implementation of concessions by each of the parties, as well as the insistence of the Qatari mediators on a concession related to Iran’s nuclear program, which Iranian negotiators reject.
