Russia Launches Deadly Wave of Missiles and Drones Across Ukraine

Russia launched its largest aerial assault of the war on Ukraine early Friday, firing more than 100 missiles and drones at multiple cities, including the capital, Kyiv. Ukrainian officials said at least 12 people were killed and dozens more injured in the barrage, which struck residential neighborhoods and damaged critical infrastructure.

Air defense systems intercepted many of the incoming weapons, but explosions were still reported in several areas as emergency crews rushed to extinguish fires, clear debris, and search for survivors. Apartment buildings, roads, and utility facilities sustained significant damage, leaving some residents without power and forcing others to evacuate.

Ukrainian authorities described the attack as a retaliatory strike following recent Ukrainian operations on Russian territory. The scale of the assault underscored the continuing intensity of the conflict and the strain on Ukraine’s air defenses as the war enters another phase of sustained long-range attacks.

Officials said rescue operations were ongoing and warned that the casualty toll could rise as teams continued to assess the damage across affected regions.
