Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, met with Palestinians on Saturday in Termasaya in the occupied West Bank; including families of American citizens whom Israeli settlers have killed.
According to Nawaaf Zaghloul, the mayor of the settlement, about 80 percent of the roughly 3,000 residents of Termasaya are Palestinian-Americans, and harassment by extremist settlers is common there.
Huckabee, a Baptist pastor and a longtime supporter of Israeli settlement building, called for the prosecution of violent settlers. Settlers accused of attacks in the West Bank are rarely prosecuted.
The violence of settlers has increased sharply since the coalition government of Benjamin Netanyahu took office in late 2022.
