Mohammad Abdelsalam, spokesperson for the Houthis, in a statement after the attack on the international airport in Sanaa, accused Saudi Arabia of continuing the siege of Yemen and said that the attack showed that reopening the airport still depends on the decisions of Saudi officials.

He also said that, despite Saudi Arabia issuing statements about defending Yemen’s sovereignty, in practice it has adopted the same approach that, according to him, Israel uses in its wars.

Abdelsalam accused Riyadh of lying, superiority complex, hostility, and aggressive actions.

He said that the siege of Yemen continues with Saudi support and that, after failing in the eight-year war, the country is now trying to achieve its goals through economic pressure.

The Houthis’ spokesperson warned that Saudi Arabia, with its miscalculation, has turned itself into an open enemy of Yemen and that continuing this approach could have serious consequences for the security and economy of Saudi Arabia.

He also said that the maritime siege is only the first step in the confrontation between siege and retaliation, and that the people of Yemen will use whatever tools they consider necessary to obtain their rights.
