. The funeral prayer (salat al-mayyit) for Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, was held on Sunday, Tir 14, at 8:00 a.m. local time in Tehran’s Musalla. Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani Tabrizi led the funeral prayer for Ali Khamenei and his four family members. Previously, it had been announced that Mojtaba Khamenei, the current Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, would not lead his father’s funeral prayer. In the front row of the ceremony were Masoud Pezeshkian, the President, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Parliament, and Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the Head of the Judiciary. Muhammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, the head of Ali Khamenei’s office, also stood alongside Ayatollah Sobhani.
