The U.S. Department of War has recently released videos showing the rescue operation of two American pilots in the mountains around Isfahan.

Brig. Gen. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, said that on the evening of Farvardin 13, a fighter aircraft carrying the two people was targeted during a mission to attack industrial facilities linked to the Islamic Republic’s drone and missile program. CBS reported that the fighter aircraft was shot down with a shoulder-fired missile.

The two crew members were forced to make an emergency egress. The weapons systems officer, named in the operation as “Bravo,” suffered fractures in the waist, arm, and shoulder due to damage to his parachute, but he was able to reach higher ground. According to CBS, at one point Islamic Republic forces moved toward him up to several hundred meters, and the CIA played a role in diverting searches and identifying his location by carrying out deception operations and using highly classified technology.

According to Cooper, more than 90 U.S. military personnel entered Iranian territory during the main phase of the rescue operation, with hundreds more participating in the air operation and thousands in the support section.
