Saeed Alavi, a member of the editorial team of Iran International, said that the biggest achievement of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement was breaking public fear and pushing back the Islamic Republic on the issue of compulsory veiling. He added that women’s daily resistance against government pressures is the most important sign of the movement’s endurance in Iranian society.
According to Alavi, the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising and the protests of Dey 1404 are not separate events, but rather links in a continuous path of resistance by the people of Iran; a path that has been shaped by protests in previous years and, drawing on the experience and confidence of society, continues to pursue demands for freedom, equality, and democracy.
