🔻Kremlin: Trump welcomed Russia’s role in resolving the Iran issue
Reuters, citing the Kremlin, reported that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, welcomed Russia’s participation in efforts to resolve the Iran issue during a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin.
Iranian media have also reported, citing Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, that Putin told Trump in the call that diplomatic options in the Iran file remain open and that reaching an agreement is both possible and necessary.
Previously, the Kremlin, in an official statement, said that the two presidents discussed “the situation regarding Iran” in a call on Friday, though the statement did not publish further details about the content of that part of the conversation.
The call took place one day after Putin met with Masoud Pezeshkian in Turkmenistan. In that meeting, Putin said that Russia is ready to “do whatever it can” to help bring an end to the war in the Middle East.
