🔻Gloria Steinem, journalist, writer, and one of the most influential figures of the women’s liberation movement in the United States, has died at the age of 92. The Gloria Steinem Foundation announced that she passed away “in peace” on Wednesday at her home in New York, surrounded by family members and close ones.

Ms. Steinem had been for more than six decades one of the best-known voices of the American feminist movement. In the 1960s and 1970s, she became one of the leaders of the second wave of feminism and fought for women’s rights equality, civil liberties, the right to abortion, equal pay, and against gender discrimination. She continued her social activities and speaking on women’s rights even in the final years of her life.
