When it comes to theft, gold, money, or cars are usually what come to mind; but now food items have also found their way into theft cases; from rice and cooking oil to meat and several cans of canned food.
Reports from recent months point to petty food thefts from shops, as well as armed thefts from businesses. At the same time, the surge in the prices of food items has increased the value of goods that were once ordinary items in a household basket.
Reviewing these cases shows a significant shift in the pattern of some thefts; from a few cans of tuna to several bags of rice.
