🔶 Bazayi: Canada’s support for U.S. economic pressure is complicity in lawbreaking

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to a recent statement from Ottawa, accused Canada of “complicity in lawbreaking” for supporting sanctions and the United States’ economic pressure campaign against Tehran, and said the country’s policies stem from “strategic confusion.”

Ismail Bazayi, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday, September 7, criticized the positions of Canada in response to a joint statement by the foreign and finance ministers of Canada. The core of Tehran’s objections is based on the claim that “Canada’s alignment with Washington’s pressure campaign means participation in violations of international law.”

Bazayi argued on the social media platform X that Ottawa cannot, on the one hand, present itself as a defender of values such as “peace and security” and “freedom of navigation,” and on the other hand support policies that Tehran describes as the United States’ “economic war and military aggression” in the region.
