🔶 Oman’s navy rescued 16 crew members of a Saudi ship targeted by Iran

Oman’s naval forces on Monday, September 7, revealed that they rescued 16 crew members of an oil tanker flying the flag of Saudi Arabia, which Iran had attacked in the Strait of Hormuz a week earlier.

Oman’s Maritime Security Center said in a statement: “A Royal Navy of Oman vessel provided the necessary logistical support to the 25 crew members of this tanker and removed 16 of them from the vessel, while ensuring that the required medical care was provided.”

The statement did not provide further details about the fate of all members of the crew, but confirmed that two seafarers present on the ship, named “SIDR,” were killed during the incident.

Saudi Arabia’s National Shipping Company said on Wednesday that, following a renewed escalation of violence between the United States and Iran in the early part of the week, two Filipino seafarers were killed as a result of an attack on the tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
