Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, condemned the Houthis’ attacks on Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure and the disruption of shipping routes, and said that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb must be preserved in accordance with international law.

He also called on all parties to comply with international law and warned that the escalation of this crisis could bring broader security and humanitarian consequences.
