🔶 Amnesty International accuses Russia of human trafficking in recruiting forces
Human rights organization Amnesty International has accused Russia of turning to human trafficking in the process of recruiting foreign fighters to fight in Ukraine.
According to German News Agency, Amnesty International, in a report it published in this regard, wrote: “Many of the recruited forces were deceived with false promises about civilian jobs, high wages, and permission for residence or Russian citizenship, and quickly found themselves at the front lines of the war in Ukraine.”
Based on this report, in the process of recruiting forces, methods such as “coercion, fraud, deception, or abuse of individuals’ difficult economic situation” were used.
According to the organization, these methods provided the necessary conditions to bring charges of human trafficking under the Palermo Protocol of the United Nations, adopted in 2000.
