Yemen’s state TV, citing Sameer Al-Sabri, deputy defense minister of the country, reported that the decision to liberate Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, from Houthi control has been made.
He said the government intends to wrap up the battle for the capital.
The Houthis, a group supported by the Islamic Republic, during Yemen’s internal war, took control of parts of the country and its industry.
Meanwhile, Tareq Saleh, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, said that the armed forces of the country have defeated the Islamic Republic’s plan to gain control of the Bab al-Mandeb strait through the Houthis.
He stressed that opening up multiple battle fronts against the Houthis and the Islamic Republic would strengthen the resistance of Yemen’s government forces, and that operations would continue until Sanaa is liberated from Houthi control.
He also announced that the ultimate goal is the complete reclaiming of Yemeni territory and putting an end to the influence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the groups affiliated with it in the country.
At the same time, the Al Arabiya news network reported that Yemen’s army fighter jets bombed Houthi positions in the Al Hameer Al Maqbana front in Taiz.
