Majid Al Ansari, spokesperson of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with CNN about the Islamic Republic and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, said: “We must gradually reduce this crisis and decrease its intensity, not seek to end it immediately.”
He added that the goal should not be to turn a high-intensity confrontation into a low-intensity one.
The Qatar foreign ministry spokesperson said: “We must prevent any military escalation, including missile attacks on residential areas of the Gulf countries and attacks against the Islamic Republic.”
Al Ansari also said that after reaching this stage, the countries in the region should collectively work to begin a comprehensive dialogue that includes all parties.
He added: “We will do everything we can to ensure that the concerns of both sides during the negotiations are taken into account.”
The Qatar foreign ministry spokesperson emphasized: “It is not possible to allow wars in which countries, simply by closing maritime routes, make this situation a normal practice.”
