🔶 Three Iranian oil tankers hit following an attack on U.S. ships
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that on Saturday, September 5 (Shahrivar 14), American forces targeted three Iranian oil tankers, one of which was near the coasts of Kharg Island.
CENTCOM added that the attacks were carried out after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired ballistic missiles toward two U.S. warships.
Brad Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM, who leads U.S. military forces in the Middle East, said: “The message to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps must be clear: if you fire at two of our ships, we will impose a heavier economic cost by destroying three of your vessels.”
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote on X: “If Iran fires at American ships, we will destroy (and sink) their tankers. The only thing they have to do is not fire at the U.S. Navy.”
In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to increase attacks against U.S. military vessels in the region.
