🔻Starr Hashemi, Iran’s Minister of Communications, said in an open session of parliament on Tuesday, 17 Shahrivar that as a result of the internet shutdown in recent months, the communications sector’s revenue has seen a significant decline.

Mr. Hashemi said that with the internet cutoff, the Ministry of Communications has experienced a 30% drop in the fixed-line sector and a 50% drop in the mobile sector. He said that 70% of the country’s telecommunications equipment requires foreign currency, and he cited the allocation of foreign currency and the provision of equipment under current conditions as a major challenge and problem for the Ministry of Communications.

Mr. Hashemi also said that during the 40-day war, 500 communications sites in the country were targeted and destroyed.
