🔻Sources familiar with the matter, told BBC Persian that at the same time as the anniversary of the killing of Mahsa Amini, the cities of Saqqez and Sanandaj in Iran’s Kurdistan province are under a security atmosphere, and parts of the bazaar and businesses have been “closed”.

A source familiar with the situation in Saqqez told BBC Persian that the city is quiet and many shops are shut. He says that a large number of security forces that had been deployed to Saqqez in the days prior are stationed in fields such as Jeldan Square—known as Enqelab Square—along the Baneh–Saqqez road, and around the Aichi cemetery.

The source said that since the morning, a question has been raised among people as to whether they should go to the Aichi cemetery for the anniversary of Zhina Mahsa Amini, and he described the situation as “confusing”. According to him, there are many concerns, but many people want to attend at Zhina Mahsa Amini’s grave for the anniversary and are waiting to see how conditions will be later in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness in Sanandaj told BBC Persian that today many merchants and bazaar traders in the city have “gone on strike,” though some shops are still open.

According to the eyewitness, the Sixth Bahman street, known as Pasdaran Street, is completely closed, and the city’s atmosphere is also heavily security-focused.
