Saudi Arabia’s air defense intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by Yemen’s Houthis, an ally of the Islamic Republic, before it entered the airspace around Mecca; the coalition led by Saudi Arabia announced this on Tuesday, 24 Shahrivar.

Turki Al-Maliki, the coalition’s spokesman, said in a statement on the X social network that the drone was intercepted in the south of Mecca and described the move as the Houthis’ second attempt to target Mecca.

The first attempt by the Houthis to target Mecca was the firing of a ballistic missile in Mordad 1396.
