👈 Persepolis was put up for sale!
The annexation of the second-degree buffer zone of Persepolis to the city of Morodasht has been finalized!
The story is this: they want to add about 160 hectares of the second-degree buffer zone of Persepolis, around the town and the Mahdieh axis, to the municipal boundary of Morodasht.
The main concern is that, with this move, Morodasht will gradually come closer to the historic site of Persepolis and later, through development activities, street construction, parking lots, traffic, urban projects, and... all these will be opened up to this area.
What’s interesting is that some of the lands in this same area, such as the Firouzeh mounds, have not yet been fully archaeologically surveyed and excavated, and it is not clear what historical artifacts might exist beneath these lands.
The Iranian Archaeological Society has also directly written a letter to Masoud Pezeshkian to stop this.
The matter has become so serious that “Mohammad-Javad Jafari,” the head of the UNESCO World Heritage Site office at Persepolis, resigned in protest over the process of this case!
