Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, spoke in a telephone call with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, about the “evolving situation in the region.”

Based on a statement by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides agreed that implementing the Islamabad understandings remains “the best path for reducing tensions.”

The understandings of 27 Khordad were set to begin a 60-day period of peace negotiations between Iran and the United States and included provisions regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

In the same call, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s “steadfast commitment to advancing the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter and respecting international rights and treaties.”
