🔶 Kepler: The number of commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz has fallen to six

Initial shipping data released on Thursday, 12 Shahrivar (3 September) indicates that six cargo ships transited the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday; the figure the day before was 11 ships and the 10-day average was about 13.

According to data from Kepler, a company that tracks ships, between 11 Shahrivar and 4:05 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time on Wednesday, a very large gas carrier, two long-range tankers carrying fuel, one “Supramax” tanker, and one Panamax tanker entered the Strait of Hormuz from the Sea of Oman. A very large gas-laden vessel also exited the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Sea of Oman.

According to Kepler data, the statistics of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz may change, because some ships typically turn off their transponders when transiting.

Reuters has reported that Iran has added more ships that it considers to be in violation of its regulations to the list of vessels subject to fines, detention, or seizure if they attempt to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
