🔶 Iran Human Rights: 82 executions, including 6 women, in one month

A new report by Iran Human Rights, based in Norway, shows that in just the month of August, 82 people were executed in Iran, of whom 6 were women. This is the highest number of monthly executions of women in 2026. According to the report, three prisoners who had been arrested in connection with the nationwide protests of Dey (December) were also among those executed.

According to this organization, the Islamic Republic has executed at least 532 people in the first eight months of 2026; including 18 women, 20 foreign nationals, and 91 people from ethnic minorities.

A look at the report by this human-rights organization shows that among those executed in 2026 there were also 31 protesters, 29 of whom had been detained in the protests of Dey and two in the Woman, Life, Freedom protests; 13 political prisoners affiliated with opposing groups; and 14 people accused of espionage.

On the other hand, Iran Human Rights has said that it received reports about more than 500 other executions, but it was unable to verify them, and therefore they do not appear in this report. The human-rights organization has repeatedly noted that it records in its statistics only cases of executions for which there are sufficient documentation or which have been confirmed by two independent sources.

Among the six women executed in August 2026, details of five cases were reviewed by Iran Human Rights, in which four women were accused of killing their husband or fiancée. Two of them were victims of forced marriage, and one was a victim of child marriage who defended herself against sexual assault.

Iran Human Rights has identified the six women as Maryam Neyari (مرضیه نیری), who, at the age of 24, after enduring approximately five years in prison awaiting the execution sentence, was executed on 17 Mordad 1405 (8 August 2026) in Qazvin Central Prison.
