🔻Dozens of protesters in South Korea demanded that it refrain from joining the United States in war with Iran

Tens of South Korean citizens urged their government to avoid sending troops to the Strait of Hormuz and condemned what they called an “illegal war” by the United States.

The protesters, who gathered today outside the large compound of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, while officials in their country are assessing their “participation” in securing the waterway, held placards with the message “Do not join an aggressive war.”

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has pressured his ally, South Korea, to take part in the war in the Middle East; a war in which Iran has taken control of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s vital routes for supplying oil.

Iran had previously warned South Korea about joining the United States in the ongoing war.
