Tankers’ tracking company, TankerTracers, published a report with satellite images showing that the source of widespread oil pollution in Qeshm is the bulk carrier “Minwon Pioneer,” which was recently targeted by the Islamic Republic at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted this oil tanker, flying the flag of Liberia and managed by a Greek company, on August 3 (12 Mordad) near the province of Musandam, Oman, in the Strait of Hormuz, and it caught fire.

TankerTracers described the spread of the oil spill from this vessel into Iranian waters as a “blowback” for the Islamic Republic.

According to reports from Iranian media and satellite images, the oil pollution has not only spread to waters around Qeshm Island, but has also expanded into the area of the Hara forests near the village of “Naqqasheh” in Iran.

Islamic Republic officials have not yet announced the cause of the oil leak and say they are investigating the matter.
