Reuters reported, citing three senior officials of the Islamic Republic and an informed source in Iran, that Tehran believes Donald Trump is ready to «break the stalemate in the eight-month war» by resuming military attacks.
One of these officials told Reuters: «Iran is preparing itself for the resumption of Israeli and American attacks, not for an agreement with the United States aimed at ending the war. The clerical establishment is determined to not allow Trump to achieve political victory.»
The news agency wrote, quoting these sources, that «given Tehran’s refusal to make concessions that this country believes could be politically beneficial to Trump, the likelihood of achieving major progress in the negotiations before the election is low.»
Reuters also wrote: «One of the Iranian officials said Tehran’s view that Washington is not reliable in its commitment to diplomacy stems from attacks that have disrupted previous negotiations».
