The UK Maritime Trade Operations organization said an oil tanker was targeted by three unknown projectiles while completing its transit and exiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Based on the warning issued by the organization, the incident occurred 17 nautical miles east of the port of Khasab in Oman.
The statement said: “No casualties or environmental impact have been reported.”
The UK Maritime Trade Operations organization did not announce the vessel’s name, flag, or ownership.
According to the analysis by the InvestingLive website, the incident is distinct from previous cases because the vessel was on its way out rather than entering, and it was targeted with three projectiles rather than one.
Based on the same analysis, the hit by three projectiles instead of one indicates an increase in the severity of individual attacks, and the targeting of outbound oil tankers alongside incoming traffic shows that disruptions have become broader.
The attack mentioned is at least the fourth recorded incident in the Khasab area over the past few days.
