🔻Sisi and bin Salman met in Cairo The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia met and held talks in Cairo with Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the President of Egypt.

Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Cairo today on an official visit.

Egypt’s presidential office said that in today’s talks, Sisi and Mohammed bin Salman stressed the need to ensure freedom and security of navigation in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.

The office also said that Egypt supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts to preserve the security and stability of its country and its efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the crisis in Yemen.

The Iran-aligned Houthi fighters took control of the eastern coast of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait last week; a strait that has gained even greater importance as the Strait of Hormuz has been disrupted.

An emergency UN Security Council meeting on Bab al-Mandeb will be held in New York today at the request of France.

Saudi Arabia said it will respond “decisively” to the Houthi attacks.
