Egypt and Pakistan emphasized the importance of Iran and the United States returning to implement the interim agreement signed last June between officials of the two countries.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today, Sunday, that Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s foreign minister, and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s foreign minister, in a telephone call yesterday, emphasized the importance of returning to implement the interim agreement to end a war that has been going on in the region for months.

The two ministers also discussed efforts made to contain tensions and restore calm, and stressed the importance of resuming the “Islamabad understandings,” which were signed between the United States and Iran on June 18. They also emphasized the need to reach a comprehensive and durable agreement—one that strengthens regional security and stability and prevents the scope of conflict from spreading in the region.
