Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, said in an interview with Fox News that there are probably only about 30 million barrels of Iranian crude oil left that China has not yet bought.
According to him, the blockade has prevented the export of Iranian oil, and once the remaining oil runs out in the near future, Iran will no longer have oil to sell to China.
Bessent said the blockade has prevented the export of Iranian oil and described the combination of the blockade and sanctions as one of the most powerful tools for economic isolation in history. He said the United States is carrying out operations under the title “economic eviction” and will suffocate the Iranian government economically.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary also said that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and that countries on the Persian Gulf’s coast are building alternative oil transport routes so that there will no longer be a need to pass oil through this strait.
Bessent added that he believes that after the end of fighting with the Islamic Republic, the world will be safer and Iran will not be able to obtain a nuclear weapon. He added that the U.S. economy is gaining momentum and that the energy supply shock will come to an end.
