For the second consecutive day, U.S. armed forces have halted military operations against the Islamic Republic. "The New York Times" reported on Saturday, 4 Mordad (26 July), citing American officials, that U.S. President Donald Trump decided not to escalate the confrontation with Iran for fear that continuing the war would reduce this country’s stockpiles of interceptor missiles.

According to these officials, recent talks at the White House have largely focused on reducing the stockpiles of America’s interceptor missiles—especially after an Iranian missile passed through U.S. air defense systems and three American soldiers were killed in Jordan.

Sources for The New York Times also said that General Dan Kin, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. armed forces, considered a return to full-scale war with Iran possible, but warned that such an action would reduce the number of missiles available to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Middle East.
