🔶 عراقچی: The crisis in Yemen and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has no military solution

Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, said on Saturday, 3 Mordad (25 July), in an interview with the state-run Iranian newspaper Iran Daily that the Islamic Republic believes there is no “military solution” to the crisis in Yemen, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and other regional issues. He emphasized that the path of dialogue is the only way to reduce tensions.

Araqchi said that the situation in Yemen “cannot be attributed to Iran,” and that events related to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait stem from longstanding differences between Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and regional countries.

The remarks were made after Yemeni Houthi forces and Saudi Arabia carried out reciprocal attacks in recent days.

Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also voiced a similar position and said Tehran is ready to facilitate any dialogue among the parties involved.

He stressed that returning to the path of talks and fully implementing the roadmap agreed upon is the only way to end the suffering of the people of Yemen and to preserve security and stability in the region.
