North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern coast on Saturday. The action took place one day after the end of a joint exercise between the United States, South Korea, and Japan.
Based on a statement by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the missiles were launched from the Wonsan area and traveled about 250 kilometers. South Korea and the United States are conducting a detailed analysis of the missiles’ characteristics.
The U.S. Pacific Command said the immediate threat was not directed at the United States and its allies.
