The governor of Khuzestan announced that truck traffic has been resumed only at the Shalamcheh border since Monday morning, 23 Shahrivar, and has not yet been established at Chazabeh.
Mohammadreza Mowali-zadeh said that passenger traffic at both borders has no problem, and added: “Yesterday we visited the Chazabeh border and held talks with Iraqi officials, and it was decided that things would move forward quickly so that both sides can handle truck traffic and cargo transportation.”
Both terminals had been closed from the early hours of Saturday, 21 Shahrivar, at the order of Iraqi authorities.
Iraq’s security information center had previously announced a phased reopening schedule. Accordingly, passenger entry resumed from Sunday, trade at Shalamcheh resumed from Monday, in Mandali from Tuesday, and at Al-Shayb—called Chazabeh on the Iranian side—will begin from Thursday.
