Jamsheed Barzegar, journalist and political analyst, said that pointing to the increase in gasoline prices would not only affect fuel costs and would lead to higher prices for goods and services and intensify economic pressure on the people.

He added that the Islamic Republic does not have an outlook for making up for a gasoline supply shortfall, and concern about widespread protests has prevented further increases in gasoline prices.
