🔶 Iran’s Ambassador to Mauritania Summoned Over “Conduct Contrary to Diplomatic Norms”
Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Javad Abou Ali Akbar, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Nouakchott, to deliver its official protest regarding “certain behaviors and activities that are contrary to diplomatic norms and traditions.”
The ministry said on Monday, September 14 (23 Shahrivar), that the Iranian ambassador was summoned in connection with actions that, in the view of the Mauritanian government, “are not compatible with the rules governing the activities of diplomats in host countries as well.”
The summoning of the Islamic Republic’s ambassador in Mauritania took place one day after media in the country reported the arrest of three people in the village of “Boussédira” in the Boutilimit department in western Mauritania following the ambassador’s trip to the area.
Local sources said the reason for the arrest of these individuals was the firing of celebratory gunshots during the welcome for the Iranian ambassador, and on the occasion of his arrival in Boussédira.
