🔶 Mohammed bin Salman to meet with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo

The Egyptian Presidency announced that Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the country’s president, will host Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, September 15 (24 Shahrivar) in order to discuss, among other things, bilateral relations and the strengthening of cooperation between Cairo and Riyadh.

It was also announced that el-Sisi and bin Salman will hold consultations regarding ongoing developments in the region. The Saudi Crown Prince and the Egyptian president also had a telephone call earlier this month, in which they emphasized the importance of de-escalation in the region.

The meeting between the two takes place as tensions and clashes between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi militants have increased in recent weeks.

The Houthis in Yemen, who control the most populous areas of Yemen and much of the north of the country, have launched attacks against Saudi Arabia since the announcement of a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in July, targeting Saudi vessels in the Red Sea.
