🔻Iran calls for review of a ban on attacks on nuclear facilities at IAEA conference

Iran’s Permanent Mission in Vienna, in a note to the International Atomic Energy Agency, asked the agency to place on the agenda of its 70th General Conference “the prohibition of all forms of attack and threats of attack against sites and nuclear facilities.”

Iran asked that this issue be examined in the general meeting of member states.

In its note, Iran said that the positions of member countries in the meetings of the Board of Governors, the General Conference, and the United Nations Security Council regarding attacks on facilities under the Agency’s supervision have created “serious concern.”

Iran’s nuclear facilities were targeted by attacks from the United States and Israel during the 12-day war and the 40-day war.

After these attacks, Iran announced that it would not allow inspections of its damaged nuclear facilities to the Agency.
