Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the Parliament’s National Security Commission, told the state news agency IRNA: “If freedom of navigation is to be upheld, it should not interfere with the security of the coastal country; otherwise, a blockade is considered a type of war.”

Qashqavi added: “In this war, our defense doctrine has changed. Contrary to those who alter their actions and provide them to public opinion incompletely, we promptly make our actions available to domestic and international public opinion.”

The spokesman for the National Security Commission of the Parliament further said: “The Americans only insist on freedom of navigation, but they do not adhere to the second part—namely, not interfering with our national security and national sovereignty—and they act exactly the opposite.”
