🔶 Germany: We take AI-related warnings very seriously; Trump rejected them
Following the United Nations’ warning about the need to rein in the unchecked advancement of government-developed artificial intelligence, Germany said it “takes this warning very seriously.”
Since calls have been raised by U.S. technology companies such as Anthropic and “OpenAI” to slow down AI research, debate over the risks of this technology has intensified.
A spokesperson for the German government, in saying it takes the warning seriously, called for solutions within the framework of the Group of Seven countries, including seven of the world’s most advanced industrial economies.
Germany’s Ministry for Digital Affairs also pointed to the country’s newly established National Institute for AI Safety, which, according to its duties, must identify security-related risks in their early stages.
Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in his latest remarks, called for proper regulation and stronger oversight of AI development, emphasizing that the world must be saved immediately from the “unprecedented risks” it faces.
