Britain today Tuesday announces a ban on trade in goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

P. McFadden, the UK’s pensions minister, confirmed the news and said the measure is part of London’s efforts to support a two-state solution.

David Miliband, the UK foreign secretary, is due to deliver a statement about Israel and the commercial restrictions in the House of Commons.

McFadden told Radio Times that he does not know the details of how the ban will be implemented and added: “The foreign secretary will make a statement to Parliament today.”

Miliband had said last week that Israel’s E1 settlement plan cuts off land Palestinians want for their government and jeopardizes the two-state solution.
