Zelensky announced attacks on Islamic Republic of vessels in the Caspian Sea;
The President of Ukraine said that in its long-range attacks in the Caspian Sea, his country’s forces targeted vessels that were being used to transfer military shipments linked to Iran.
Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Saturday on the X network that these attacks had “very important results,” and that a Russian warship was also targeted. He did not provide further details, and Russia has not responded.
The Caspian Sea is a main route for transferring military shipments between the Islamic Republic and Russia. In this closed sea, the United States has no naval presence and no ability to inspect suspicious vessels.
Ukraine’s attacks in this sea have a track record. The ship “Port Olya-4” in Mordad 1404 was attacked and destroyed while transferring Shahed-136 drones and ammunition from Iran to Russia. On 21 Azar 1404, two U.S.-sanctioned ships near the coasts of Kalmykia were also targeted.
On 18 Esfand 1404, Israel struck the port of Anzali, and Amirabad remained the only major functioning Iranian port in the Caspian.
