🗣Your account: Living conditions under political repression and military tensions — Thursday 9 Mehr
🔹On the 7th of Mehr, when we were in Rasht, they detained a young boy for wearing shorts, kicked him several times, and told his friends that they should go bring him pants so they would let him go.
🔹The cost of a two-month class has become 10 million tomans—where are we students supposed to get that from, with all these expenses and rising prices?
🔹This year I’m in eighth grade. I went and bought 3 notebooks, and it came to 600,000 tomans. From the stationery shop to home, I kept thinking that I wouldn’t have to give them up. And prices are still going up, and for most of my books I still haven’t gotten notebooks.
🔹As a 12th-grade student, I didn’t have the money for school supplies or tuition this year, and I couldn’t go to school. Not to mention buying test-prep books for the university entrance exam. Honestly, I became seriously disappointed in my future.
🔹They didn’t give us any books at school—neither 10th-grade books nor 11th-grade books—despite the fact that we paid for the books. They keep saying they have a shortfall. We don’t have any specialized books, even though our field is “experiential.” The teacher teaches their own material.
🔹I’m an 11th-grade student. After 10 days, they still haven’t given us books, and the teachers misuse things and sell us the mandatory handouts for one million tomans. My tuition this year has also become 70 million.
🔹The officers at the police station have gotten so hungry that they get free food at restaurants; and if they don’t get it, they harass the kids. Does this system not give you food, and because of that you kill people?
